Mr Neil Hunt

M A (Cantab) MBBS FRCS FRCS (Tr and Orth)

Trained at St Mary's Hospital, London, after graduating from Cambridge University in 1987.

I specialise entirely in knee surgery.

This includes all aspects of knee surgery from arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, ligament reconstruction and sports knee surgery (from amateur to professional), surgery for arthritis (total and uni-compartmental knee replacement), to osteotomy (re-alignment).

My aim is to maximise the function of all my patients throughout their lives by eliminating their pain and returning them to normal activities as much as possible.

I therefore also have a keen interest in early arthritis/arthritis prevention techniques including articular cartilage surgery (autologous chondrocyte implantation) and meniscal cartilage repair and replacement (the menaflex artificial meniscus).

I am part of the national 'ACTIVE' trial of autologous chondrocyte implantation (resurfacing of the damaged surface of the knee with a patients own re-grown cartilage cells) and I can therefore offer this treatment both for NHS and private patients and accept tertiary referrals for this

After completing basic surgical training in London, I trained as an orthopaedic surgeon and specialised in knee surgery. I undertook a sports surgery fellowship at Charing Cross Hospital London and completed my sub-specialist knee surgery training with a one year fellowship in Australia with one of the world's leading knee surgeons. I now offer a comprehensive specialist knee service.
